HamaKaze Bold & Wild Times Coffee Final Project

The Two Finals

In my introductory into design and Adobe InDesign, we were assigned the task to create both the poster and coffee bag for a new coffee. I originally started with the HamaKaza Bold, inspired by the Japanese KiHa 181 Series express train and the Hamakaze limited express service. It featured sharp patterns and crisp text to give off a clean design. While working on it, my copy of “The Art Of Zootopia” arrived. In it was the concept of Wild Times, an amusement park from a cut version of the film. This provided the inspiration for the colors and “grass fan” design for the second coffee final. To make sure it was completed on time, I used a simple and clean approach on the design. I even drew my own version of the Snarlbucks logo from Zootopia to replace the Starbucks logo included with the print templates.

Each bag is designed to be printed on 11x17 inch sheets, then folded along the black and white dashes. For additional complexity on the final, each bag features detailing that must be lined up along the seam.

When I posted the Wild Times design on twitter, I mentioned the directors for Zootopia in the comments to share it with them. What I didn’t expect was for one of the, Rich Moore, to respond and share it to his followers.
